Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day Weekend was great! It was our first weekend to spend most of the time at the lake...with Jacklynn. She loved the pool and the dock and hanging out with the fam!

We went to Carb Day on Friday at the speedway. I am not really sure what Carb Day is, but basically there were a lot of people, it was really hot, and we got to see the cars go around the track in some sort of race that I am still not quite certain about. Jacklynn had ear plugs in, but didn't seem to mind the heat or the loud noises or all the sweaty people around her (including her momma!).

Also, we went to Indiana Downs for the horse races Friday night. She learned how to make noise and how to find her feet this week, so she showed off for everyone we saw.

Oh and we let her sit in a high chair a couple of times too. She is not quite big enough, but was definitely excited about being at the table. She started laughing and moving her hands around when we put her in it!

Chic-Fil-A

Chic-Fil-A is a weekly staple in the life of a nanny/mommy. The playplace is great if there are not to many kids (even for little tykes) and the food somehow feels healthier and of course they have Diet Dr. Pepper! This past week Sophie discovered the flowers and Jacklynn explored the tree. They both seemed to enjoy these things!

This weekend we will probably be spending a lot of time at the lake. Jacklynn is a little unsure about this...

Mother's Day Weekend

Well, I have experienced my first Mother's Day as a mother. Sometimes I'm not really sure that it has truly hit me.....I mean, the fact that I am a mother. But this has been the greatest four months of my life. Seeing Jacklynn grow and develop and especially watching her learn new things, showing her off every chance I get, and acting crazy just to get her to smile or at first to look at me, wondering what she will be like tomorrow and in the future, and praying for her every night. It is amazing to me! And if that is what being a mother is all about, then count me in!
On Saturday, we went up to Lapel, IN to spend some time with my dad's side of the family and were able to take a 5 generations picture! This is Jacklynn, me, my dad, his mom, and her mom.
On Sunday at church, we dedicated Jacklynn to the Lord. It was awesome! Our prayer for Jacklynn (stolen from a friend :)) is that she would never know a day where she did not know the Lord. These are a few pictures from the service and just after. All of Nick and I's grandparents and parents were there and almost all of our siblings. It was so great to be together and hang out all weekend!



We spent the afternoon at my father-in-laws barn hanging out and playing volleyball. It was a beautiful day! These are all of Jacklynn's 2nd cousins on Nick's mom's side. Sophia, Jillian, Jacklynn, and Lauren...aren't they precious?! Sophia is exactly a year older than Jacklynn and Jillian and Lauren are twins born 4 months before her.

Whoa...3 Months!

Jacklynn is officially 3 months old! I can't believe it...It honestly feels like she has been around forever! And I love that! She is so fun to be with...smiling, laughing, talking, and especially when she is showing you that she is not getting what she wants in quite the dramatic way! Her new thing is rolling over. She does it now both directions from her tummy. It is actually a twist and roll as depicted below...
After we get done working, I make dinner and she usually joins me on the counter in her "Bumbo" chair. It is so funny because it is like she knows that this chair allows her to sit up (something she could not do on her own) and that makes her feel cool or something. We bond in the kitchen!
Working is good, but crazy. I don't think there is any amount of money that someone could pay me to go back to work without Jacklynn though. So, we enjoy hanging out with 1-3 kids every day of the week. We frequent the park quite often (where Jacklynn has learned how to swing in the toddler swings by basically dangling over the front) as well as the museum, the zoo, the do-it-yourself pools, and occasional garage sales. It really is the life and I nanny the best kids around so that helps!
In case you were wondering who Jacklynn looks like, I am not sure. But I do know that she has her daddy's profile!

New Amsterdam

This past weekend we went with the entire McCord family down to New Amsterdam, IN. It is a little town on the Ohio River that Nick's Grandma Anna grew up in. Each year they have a festival and a parade that she tries to attend. This year we all decided to go along with her to celebrate her 87th birthday! It was a fun trip!

This is the store that her family owned and they lived upstairs. While we were there, Jacklynn had her first swimming experience. She was a little unsure of going under, but other than that thoroughly enjoyed it!

I also wanted to share with you that Nick found a new place to sleep when he is in trouble...:)

Easter Weekend in Colorado

For Easter, Nic, Jacklynn and I headed out to Colorado Springs. The first 2 plane rides with a baby where basically uneventful, which is definitely a good thing. Nic came home a few days before Jacklynn and I, so we were alone on the flight to Indy. That was definitely a little more stressful, but we survived! It just once again blows my mind how many "things" that such a little person requires! Jacklynn's suitcase was bigger than Nic and I's put together!
We had a great time in Colorado just hanging out with the family! And of course, everyone was excited to see and spend time with Jacklynn. On Easter morning, Jacklynn enjoyed her first Easter basket!
My mom bought her this Easter dress that she looked like a little princess in! This was the first time that my whole family had been together since Jacklynn was born.
It was so nice to be able to relax for a little bit, esp. since grandma was willing to help out with EVERYTHING!!
My dad taught Jacklynn how to sing loudly in public while pretending to direct an orchestra...something every 2 month old should learn! We actually got to spend sometime with Steph and Jason, which was very exciting since they are both usually so busy. Jenni, always looking cute, helped us all find things to wear on Sunday. And Ben. He was trying to make a smiley face out of his pancakes, but that venture was unsuccessful. Then he thought Jackie would look cute in this hat...its a little large! But something he is amazing at...basketball. We got to see two of his games while we were out there. OH, we found a little bear at the Garden of the Gods....
Easter was amazing this year! While in Colorado, we went to see this amazing Easter production at my parents church. (Seriously, if you are ever in Colorado around Easter you should go to the Thorn at New Life Church). Anyways, it was such a great visual reminder that Jesus really is alive! I seem to forget that a lot because I am not physically seeing him everyday, but this production helped put some things back in perspective!
